Halifax Nova Scotia Maroons

In about 1795, about 3 shiploads of Jamaican Maroons were exiled to Halifax, Nova Scotia (NS), in eastern Canada. The British said that these Maroons had broken certain treaties and were being sent to NS. This was possibly the coldest place they could find to punish these upstarts.

These Maroons and their families were put on the ships and sent to Canada permanently, but in a few years, they were again re-shipped to Sierra Leone, a British colony in West Africa.

More info will be posted shortly.
